Jason has a long and storied past as a builder. He discovered his passion for the craft late in life while working on the first permitted two-story straw bale house in Germany built entirely with hand tools under a Master Carpenter of the Guild. He got there after traveling for years by ground through the Andes and then across Eurasia from Indochina to Turkey where he transitioned to biking, sleeping under bridges and volunteering at intentional communities from Greece to Paris before flying to West Africa to learn drum carving with Ga and Ewe artisans.
After working as an itinerant handyman in Paris, it was his weird to find his true home in 2004 Portland. He apprenticed as a Framing Carpenter for one year then managed the upkeep of 100 rental homes for a Property Management company before staring his own company in 2006.
Over the years his initial focus on historic home restoration has shifted to remodels and basement / backyard ADUs in unison with Portland as it strives to meet its urban density goals. Now he continues to evolve making cozy luminous spaces that add value to real estate and create low-maintenance, efficiently thoughtful homes for Portlanders to thrive in.
